TYPICAL ENGLISH

We’ll show to our students some pictures of typical English objects. We’ll give the students the opportunity of explaining if these objects are really typica English or not. It’s a good activity to work speaking skills, but also to learn differences to countries and cultures. They must use these structures:

I think that ____________ is typical English because____________________________

I think that ____________ is not typical English because ________________________

Christmas Crossword

We’ll show this worksheet to our students. They will have to read the sentences and copy them in their notebook. They will work reading skills and they will work in pairs to try to guess the words. So, they will have to speak in English with their partner. (We’ll provide them English dicctionaries).

After doing the activity, they will have to put their asnwers in commun.

Jingle Bell Rock

Taking into account that Christmas time is coming, it could be a really good idea the fact of listening and learning a typical English carol. In this activity we are going to work listening skills, but also we’ll work the lyrics of the song and we’ll translate it. So, we’ll also work reading skills.
Moreover, after listening several times the Christmas carol, they will have to sing it. So, students will also improve their pronuntiation and entonation (oral skill).

Jingle Bell Rock

Karaoke version:

Lyrics of the song:

Jingle Bell Rock

Jingle bell, jingle bell, jingle bell rock
Jingle bells swing and jingle bells ring
Snowing and blowing up bushels of fun
Now the jingle hop has begun

Jingle bell, jingle bell, jingle bell rock
Jingle bells chime in jingle bell time
Dancing and prancing in Jingle Bell Square
In the frosty air.

What a bright time, it's the right time
To rock the night away

Jingle bell time is a swell time
To go gliding in a one-horse sleigh
Giddy-up jingle horse, pick up your feet
Jingle around the clock

Mix and a-mingle in the jingling feet
That's the jingle bell,
That's the jingle bell,
That's the jingle bell rock
